Selank is a synthetic tuftsin analogue that influences GABA and serotonin signalling and BDNF expression, the basis for interest in calm and anxiety, reportedly without the sedation of benzodiazepines.

Reported effects are mild and mostly the same as the two peptides alone: short-lived nasal irritation or dryness from the spray, occasional headache, and, from the Semax side, some raised caffeine sensitivity or feeling wired if run for long stretches without a break.
