DSIP, or delta sleep-inducing peptide, is a small natural peptide first identified in connection with sleep. People research it for sleep quality and stress, but the honest picture is that human evidence is limited and results vary a lot between studies. We list it because there is real interest, not because it is proven. Supplied as a freeze-dried powder for research use.

What it does

Researched for sleep onset and quality and for stress regulation. The sleep-optimisation and biohacker crowd explore DSIP hoping for deeper or easier sleep, often once other sleep tools have fallen short, but it is one of the least predictable peptides and the outcomes reported in research are inconsistent. Best approached as exploratory.

    Variable: some users report deeper self-reported sleep on night 1; many no effect; some next-day grogginess rather than night-of effect. Trial data: intravenous effects in 2nd hour, lasting up to 6 hours

  2. Weeks 2-4

    Stable response if responder. No human data beyond 7-night Schneider-Helmert series and 8-day Deltaran-style courses

  3. Weeks 4-12

    No human trial data; community runs 4-on/4-off cycles indefinitely

  4. Long term

    No human safety data; mouse Deltaran (Popovich 2003) showed no mean-lifespan change but 17% increase in last-decile lifespan and 2.6 times lower spontaneous tumour incidence
