About this peptide
MOTS-c is a small peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA, studied as an exercise mimetic because it activates some of the same cellular pathways as physical training. The research interest is metabolism, energy and how well the body responds to insulin. It is foundationally well-studied in animal models, with human data still limited. Supplied as a freeze-dried powder for research use.
What it does
Researched for metabolic health, energy, endurance and glucose handling, framed as an exercise mimetic because it switches on some of the same cellular pathways as training. The metabolic and endurance crowd explore it for fat-loss support and stamina; the longevity crowd is drawn to the mitochondrial angle. A metabolic peptide rather than a recovery or skin one.
What to expect
Week 1
Subtle energy uptick or mild fatigue; ISR/sting at injection; AMPK signalling activated within hours
Weeks 2-4
Insulin sensitisation, lower post-prandial glucose, improved recovery; ISR/rash risk concentrates
Weeks 4-12
Body recomposition (muscle for fat) during cuts; a human trial showed a drop in liver enzymes (ALT and AST) but no change on a liver-fat scan at 28 days
Long term
No human data over 28 days. Mouse: +6.4% median lifespan, +7% max, heart rate 0.654 statistically significant (Reynolds 2021)

Key points
Suits people researching metabolism, energy or endurance who are drawn to the exercise-mimetic concept and accept that human evidence is still early. A natural fit alongside training-focused research and other mitochondrial compounds like SS-31. Less relevant to skin, anxiety or hormonal goals.
MOTS-c activates AMPK, a key cellular energy sensor, and supports mitochondrial activity. Research describes it shifting metabolism toward fat use and improving how well the body responds to insulin, which overlaps with the body's response to exercise.
The evidence base is largely preclinical, so human effects and safety are not established. Its mechanism touches the folate pathway, so research notes folate monitoring, and a red, itchy injection-site reaction is commonly reported at higher amounts. Purity and correct reconstitution matter, and a Certificate of Analysis is shared where our supplier provides one.
Supplied freeze-dried. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water to your required concentration, then refrigerate. We can reconstitute to spec for you as a paid service.
- Blood pressure
- No effect reported in available research or community use
- Heart rate
- a severe allergic reaction-like reaction (lip/airway swelling, tachycardia)
- Blood sugar
- Improved how well the body responds to insulin (an insulin-resistance measure reduction)

Questions about MOTS-c
Research describes it activating AMPK and mitochondrial pathways that overlap with the cellular response to exercise. This is based mainly on animal and cell studies.
It is limited. The foundational research is preclinical, so we describe what the research covers rather than imply proven human effects.
